Project 306-UCB (1st year)
Privacy-preserving information protection management system
| The target of our project is to design and build a privacy system to be coupled with the underlying secured storage system, OceansStore. OceanStore is an architecture for global-scale persistent storage and also a utility infrastructure designed to span the globe and provide continuous access to persistent information. Its model assumes that the data itself is made secured and durable independently of the servers on which it is stored. The way that this is done is that it is encrypted and independently authenticated via secure hashes and a public key hierarchy. Nevertheless, for long-term durability where data may be moved from one service provider to another, it is necessary to manage the greater likelihood that someone might break encryption keys. We strive for securing privacy on even compromised servers, enabling servers to collaborate well and also protect user¡¦s privacy in a completely safe and convenient way. On the privacy end, work items include multi-perspective context-sensitive information release mechanism, management of negotiable information contents between privacy policy and personal privacy preferences, and prototype system. |
